where self-interest compels multiple parties to act against the collective interest, leading to detrimental outcomes or destruction of the whole

We need to move to a higher order of complexity

Our world is in a vulnerable place. The issues we face are becoming more interconnected and complex. While exponential technologies are exciting and have rapidly transformed many people’s lives, they are also destabilizing our systems. And our current Game A civilization incentives the development of these technologies.

We need the wisdom to deal with these complex issues and develop these technologies wisely. We will either collapse or move to a higher order of complexity, one where humanity can coordinate well at a global level. That is the precipice we are on.

Eon V - the next level of complexity

We are currently living in the 4th Eon (Phanerozoic Eon) on Earth where animal and plant life has existed. We are at the cusp of the 5th (V) Eon, the next level of complexity, where we can cohere and become a high-trust civilization that has the wisdom to fulfill our greatest potential.
